Buddy Roberts (real name Dale Hey) began his wrestling career in 1965 calling himself Dale Valentine, brother of John Valentine but would shortly change his name to Buddy Roberts. From there he went on to form a successful tag team called the “Hollywood Blonds” with Jerry Brown where all throughout the 1970’s they won several regional tag team titles.

Roberts would split from Brown to join Michael Hayes and Terry Gordy to form the Fabulous Freebirds where he was dubbed Buddy “Jack” Roberts for his love of drinking Jack Daniels whiskey. The Fabulous Freebirds were successful in the World Class Championship Wrestling pormotion feuding with the Von Erics before going to the World Wrestling Federation. Eventually Gordy along with the Gordy would return to WCCW but it was never quite the same as before.

Buddy Roberts retired in 1990 and shortly after dealt with throat cancer and required surgery to remove it. The cancer was something Roberts felt was the result of all his years smoking and would encourage many to not smoke.

All of us at Enfinity1Productions want to wish the family, friends, and fans of Buddy Roberts our condolences as you all are in our thoughts & prayers.
