Green Day Cancels 2012 Tour DatesGreen Day continues to struggle as Billie Joe Armstrong remains in rehab which has forced the band to cancel the rest of their scheduled concerts for this year.

The band has also canceled shows in early 2013 while the frontman continues getting treatment for substance abuse. Green Day’s Billie Joe entered rehab last month after experiencing a tantrum onstage at the iHearRadio festival in Las Vegas. Green Day was scheduled to perform at the Voodoo Music Experience last weekend but pulled out from it and tour dates beginning November 26th in Seattle, WA.

“Obviously the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern,” bassist Mike Dirnt said in a statement while also revealing that Green Day has moved up the release for  ¡Tré!, the last album release in a set of trilogies from the band. “We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned,” drummer Tré Cool said. “If we couldn’t be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing.”

¡Dos! will be released in North America November 13th as scheduled while ¡Tré! will now come out December 11th, instead of January 15th.

Speaking of that appearance Green Day was suppose to make at the Voodoo Music Experince, Metallica stepped in on behalf of the band and played homage to them by performing “American Idiot”. Check it out below:
