james-gandolfini dead at 51A very sad day for TV and movie fans as James Gandolfini, star of the HBO drama “The Sopranos, died today at the age of 51.


According to Variety, James Gandolfini was traveling in Italy on vacation when suddenly he fell ill. There isn’t enough concrete information right now as various reports are saying James Gandolfini suffered a heart attack and a stroke. James Gandolfini is survived by his wife, Deborah Lin, and a son, Michael, from a previous marriage.

GandolfiniĀ  won three Emmys and a Golden Globe for his performance as Tony Soprano on the HBO drama, “The Sopranos”, a series reach remains HBO’s highest-rated series ever, with 13.4 million viewers tuning in for the Season 4 premiere in 2002.

In addition to “The Sopranos,” Gandolfini appeared in dozens of movies, including memorable supporting turns in “True Romance,” “Get Shorty,” and last year’s “Zero Dark Thirty.” Gandolfini movie resume also included the 2013 releases of “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” and “Nicky Deuce”. Gandolfini attended a L.A premiere for “Nicky Deuce” last month.

Gandolfini’s recently wrapped up work for “Animal Rescue” which isn’t to be released until 2014.
