Mike Dirnt-Green-Day-BassistGreen Day’s bassist Mike Dirnt spoke to Kerrang magazine on how difficult it’s been for the band dealing with Billie Joe Armstrong’s rehab.

Mike Dirnt: “Billie doesn’t take things lightly and he wouldn’t take rehab lightly, either.” “He’s in the middle of some really big things, but we’re going to pull through. It’s killing everyone. Green Day has never been a band that sits still, but sometimes you have to step back and let life go on rather than try to control everything.”

So far Mike Dirnt & Green Day has had to pull out of from performing at the Voodoo Music and Arts Experience festival in New Orleans later this month. Metallica has stepped in for Green Day at this event as Billie Joe continues his rehab. This couldn’t come at a more difficult time right now as Green Day just released Uno! last month as they are in the middle of releasing a trio of albums. As Billie Joe continues rehab, Green Day is not able to do promotional work and touring. Speaking of touring it’s looking as though Green Day may resume on November 27th. Green Day’s next album, ¡Dos! comes out November 13th followed by ¡Tré! on January 11th of 2013.
