Trent Reznor 2012Nine Inch Nails fans will have to wait a moment for new music as Trent Reznor revealed that he is planning on making new music for a greatest hits compilation due in 2014.

According to The New Yorker, Trent Reznor “intends to contribute” only two new songs to the collection, and will followup with writing new music for a studio album afterwards. Trent Reznor also revealed his collaboration with Dr. Dre’s Beats By Dre to be a streaming project that’s meant to help users sort through songs similar to services like Spotify. Currently the project is called Daisy.

Trent Reznor: “Here’s 16 million licensed pieces of music,’ they’ve said, but you’re not stumbling into anything,” said Reznor. “What’s missing is a system that adds a layer of intelligent curation . . . As great as it is to have all this information bombarding you, there’s a real value in trusted filters. It’s like having your own guy when you go into the record store, who knows what you like but can also point you down some paths you wouldn’t necessarily have encountered.”
