Velvet Sky
All week long reports surfaced that TNA Knockouts Velvet Sky was possibly going to be leaving the company. It would turn out the Former TNA Knockouts Champion has been granted her release from TNA Wrestling. She confirmed it several hours ago via Twitter:VELVET SKY

Velvet Sky (real name Jamie Szantyr) had been employed with TNA Wrestling since 2007 and is considered to be one of the original TNA Knockouts as she was part of the division when it was first created back then. She took part in a 10-Woman gauntlet match at Bound For Glory 2007 to crown the first TNA Knockouts Champion. Velvet Sky’s greatest success came when she was paired up with Angelina Love to form The Beautiful People as they went around cleansing the world of ugly people one person at a time. Love would eventually have to leave the company briefly as she had Visa problems and Velvet Sky would get a small taste of a singles run. Eventually we’d see this shift become permanent as Sky began slowly climbing through the ranks of the Knockouts Division to eventually become TNA Knockouts Champion when she defeated Winter, Madison Rayne and Mickie James in a four-way match match at the Bound For Glory 2011 pay-per-view. This would be her only title run that wasn’t celebrated long as 28 days later at the Turning Point pay-per-view, Sky would lose it to Gail Kim. April of this year it looked as if Sky was possibly going to become Knockout Champion again but came short when she lost to Kim at the Lockdown pay-per-view. Velvet Sky has sparingly been used since. It is reported that Sky failed to come to terms on a new contract with the organization.

Lee Sanders Analysis: Think I speak for a lot of TNA Wrestling fans, Knockout fans when I say this is complete utter bullshit. Velvet Sky is nowhere near 35 years of age, is simply stunning and has bust her ass in the ring perfecting her craft. Whatever Sky wanted, TNA should’ve gave it to her without question as she helped built the division! We saw Awesome Kong leave, ODB come and go, Gail Kim go back to WWE and return, Miss Tessmacher come and go, lots of Knockouts come and over over the years but Velvet continued to be there. Can’t help but wonder just exactly does TNA have in store for this division as this is a significant blow for TNA’s Knockouts Division. She will no doubt have a greater success elsewhere as this will be a new company’s gain for sure!
