WWE Royal Rumble 2013The road to WrestleMania begins with the 26th annual WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view this Sunday live from the U.S Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Tonight’s commentators for the pre show is Tony Dawson, Matt Striker who greet us tonight. Total watching at beginning is 40, 333 as they go over briefly The Rock vs. CM Punk, Team Hell No vs. Team Rhodes Scholars, Big Show vs. Alberto Del Rio.

Josh Matthews & Big Show interview: Viewership at 51,281

Big Show reacts to the video package shown of him being defeated three weeks as Del Rio become champion. Big Show feels Del Rio or anyone has what it takes to defeat him as there’s just no way one can defeat him twice. YouTube’s channel actually froze during this interview as number of viewers remains strong at just over 54,000 before dropping to 44, 349 viewers.

There’s a 3-4 minute gap here as viewership drops to 31,409 as the stream resumes with a look into the WWE Royal Rumble stats from over the years.

WWE Royal Rumble Pre Show ends at 34,010 as the freezing resumed.


It’s now time for our official pay-per-view as we see a graphic with the narrator stressing the importance of time as it can be up as destiny awaits for one when the clock hits zero. This is followed by the 434 day reign of WWE Champion CM Punk who’ll be facing The Rock who’s back to be the people’s champion after 10 years.

Michael Cole, JBL & Jerry Lawler greet us as tonight’s event is sold out in front of 15,103 in attendance at the U.S Airways Center.

Alberto Del Rio is backstage talking Ricardo when they bump into WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart. Hitman tells him he knows why Del Rio’s a champion as he reminds him of a Mexican version of himself as he wishes him luck tonight. Ricardo is excited to meet Bret as he offers to shake his hand. Bret treats him like a little kid and gives him a pair of shades. Mark out moment for Ricardo!

Match 1: Last Man Standing for the World Heavyweight Title
Alberto Del Rio(c) defeated Big Show

Backstage segment we see Matt Striker talking to AJ Lee, Big E Langston and Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler calls Vicki Guerrero, shameless and pathetic as he reveals that he’s going out as the no.1 entrant into tonight’s WWE Royal Rumble. Striker tries to remind Ziggler that only two men have won the rumble as the no. 1 entrant as AJ Lee cuts him off and asks how far can he run? Striker quickly exits as Langston takes over while mimicking a sarcastic reporter. Langston asked him what will he do after winning the rumble tonight. Ziggler answers by revealing that he’ll be the first to cash in the MITB briefcase at the grandest stage of them all…WrestleMania as he’s looking to become the first after winning the rumble to become the undisputed champion as he seeks to reunify both titles.

Sheams, John Cena, Wade Barrett, Darren Young, Titus O’ Neil, Ryback all offer reasons why they’ll be winning tonight’s WWE Royal Rumble match.


Match 2: WWE Tag Team Titles
Kane(c) & Daniel Bryan(c) defeated Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow

Match Rating: 2.5/5

Fans were noticeably quiet during this match. All four men involved in this seemed to make more noise than them despite a valiant effort.

Backstage segment we see Vicki Guerrero approach Kane & Daniel Bryan fresh off their win. She gives them their royal rumble entry numbers and wishes them luck. Daniel Bryan shows his number as Kane is somewhat impressed. Bryan wants Kane to show him his number. A little perverted here as Bryan demands to see it as Kane tells him it’s important to not reveal it because it gives one a chance to prepare. Kane tells him he’ll see him in the ring as Bryan rebuttals saying not unless he sees him first! Kane tells Bryan that it’s highly unlikely while laughing.

WWE Royal Rumble week in Arizona is shown as highlights included the Be A Star program, NXT wrestler Bo Dallas winning a tournament to gain a spot in the rumble match.

Match 3: WWE Royal Rumble Match

he stands alone in the spotlight, exactly where he belongs as when tonight ends it will be him standing alone as the winner of the royal rumble match! Bold words here as the no.2 entrant is revealed to be… Chris Jericho!

It’s revealed that he injured his ankle during his match against Cesaro during the Pre Show. Miz does enter the ring and for the most part is taking bumps from everyone.

Cena now becomes only the 4th man to win two WWE Royal Rumble matches. He is now among men such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan and now John Cena. Now the question…which title does Cena fight for at this year’s WrestleMania?

Backstage segment we see Josh Matthews trying to interview The Rock but he grabs the microphone and talks about adversity as it was something he went through his entire life. Talks about not being drafted in college football, talks about his mom being sick with cancer at one time who didn’t quit as he vows to never quit. Rock recalls Punk saying how the people don’t count but he feels they do as they inspire him. He wants for everyone who believe, have faith as tonight they will end the 434 days of misery known s CM Punk’s title reign as tonight is proof that tonight they will be one.


Match 4: WWE Championship
CM Punk defeated The Rock

Match Rating: 5/5

Vince McMahon comes out post-match ready to strip him of the WWE title when The Rock interrupts him to tell him that the night won’t end this way. Rock demands that Vince restart the match. The bell rings once more as CM Punk goes belligerent on “The People’s champion” as the decision was overturned. The People’s champion would quickly turn the tides and deliver a spinebuster followed by The People’s Elbow to capture the WWE championship that’s eluded him for over 10 years.
